“An African Walks into a Psychiatrist’s Office & Other Stories” highlights work from eight Accra-based writers.

The first writer we are highlighting is Aisha Nelson, whose piece “Rain Again” was submitted to be part of our showcase.

Sheilla A. Nelson, who writes as Aisha Nelson, currently teaches English Language and Literature at Alpha Beta Christian College in Dansoman. After completing a combined degree in English and Psychology,  she did her National Service as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of English of the University of Ghana, Legon.

Aisha’s poem, Revolt, which was shortlisted in Poetry Foundation Ghana’s 2012 Political Poetry Competition, was published this year in One Ghana One Voice, a respected online literary magazine. She has also had several short stories and poems appear in The Mirror and Citi FM’s The Weekend Globe.

Aisha has written and directed a few Christian plays, and is currently working on a novel.
